Statewide criminal
records are NOT available in the following
states: AK, AR, CA, DE, ID, LA, MA, NV, NH,
ND, RI, TN, VT, WV and WY. Some states such
as GA, SD and IL may require a signed disclosure
and release form.
New York (NY) criminal record
searches MUST be conducted
statewide. The price is for $75.00 and includes
felony and misdemeanor records from all 62

Should I choose county or statewide
criminal searches?
County criminal record searches provide the
most up-to-date information available and
counties may take some time before reporting
to the state. Therefore, American DataBank
suggests a County criminal search whenever
you are sure of which County an individual
has lived in or if you think that there has
been recent litigation.
The Statewide search is an excellent resource
for researching an individual who might have
lived in several Counties or if you are unsure
of which County the person lived in. Not all
states are available statewide, please see
above for availability.
If you are looking for criminal records within 6 to 12 months, it may be best to order a county criminal search because it provides the latest information.
If you do not know the county where the individual may have been convicted or if the individual has moved around within the state it may be best to order a statewide criminal search which has a much wider geographic focus.

No. Because the criminal records being searched
are a matter of public record, the person does
not have to know about the search. However a
signed consent form is required if the criminal
record is being used for employment screening
purposes and is required for some statewide
criminal searches.
